Wright Patterson Air Force Base West Ramp
Reconstruction of Wright Patterson Air Force Base’s West Ramp.
INSIDE THE PROJECT
In this Design-Build reconstruction of Wright Patterson Air Force Base’s West Ramp, Kokosing provided the U.S. Air Force with a new 3,000-foot by 520-foot concrete apron and fuel supply system.
Kokosing removed existing concrete pavement, placed a 6-inch cement-treated free-draining base and topped it with a 16-inch portland cement concrete pavement course. In all, more than 185,000 square yards of concrete pavement was installed by Kokosing’s Concrete Paving Group, of which 115,000 cubic yards of concrete and cement-treated base were produced by one of the company’s Erie Strayer concrete plants.
Value Engineering by Kokosing reduced the five-phase project into two phases, and completed the project seven months ahead of schedule.
