Our Capabilities
With more than 1,500 skilled personnel working in our Heavy-Highway Division, we successfully complete nearly 100 projects a year.
Kokosing outperforms the competition, whether it is a $100,000 street asphalt paving project, a retail parking lot, or a $140-million major road job. We also specialize in major bridge, power plant, heavy pile, foundation, landfill, reservoir, and airport runway and taxiway construction. Kokosing’s partnering relationships extend from private-sector customers and local government officials, to teaming with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state DOTs.
Our desire to be the best has prompted and thoughtfully guided us to expand from a $2-million-per-year construction division in the mid-1970s, to one that today is performing over $300-million annually. As our capabilities have grown, so have the size and complexity of our signature projects – from the $20-million Huron Bypass in the mid 1980s, to the $50-million Cincinnati Cross County Highway and State Route 22 in Steubenville. These projects were the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) largest construction projects at the time, and helped us gain respect as Ohio’s premier road construction company. Today, Kokosing is the largest highway contractor for the ODOT and is also performing a large volume of work in West Virginia.
Unlike the competition, Kokosing self-performs the majority of its work. By completing the dirt and rock, grading, underground utility, asphalt and concrete paving, bridge and noise wall work ourselves, we can assure the job is done correctly the project stays on schedule and it remains competitively priced.
