Cleveland Hopkins Airport Runway Extension
Paving the way for flight.
INSIDE THE PROJECT
This $40.7 million airport improvements project had Kokosing extend Runway 6R-24L by more than 2,000 feet and construct and lengthen crossing and parallel taxiways.
With the use of three company-owned concrete pavers and Bidwell machines, Kokosing installed an 8-inch cement-treated base course and topped it with 106,000 square yards of 15-inch and 16-inch P501 portland cement concrete pavement. Concrete for the project was produced by one of Kokosing’s Erie Strayer portable plants and by a local readymix supplier.
Project requirements also had Kokosing perform concrete-pavement removal, mass grading and installation of large-diameter drainage.
